Studies have revealed that the most important organ in your body is your brain.

It is 2% of your body’s weight. But unfortunately, we talk only 2% with regard to its importance.

The calories burnt by your body parts is almost 20 to 30%. It is quite expensive is not it?

Your brain is the most expensive real estate in your body.

Brain Function

As far as its function is concerned, nothing is more complex than human brain. It is estimated we have 100 billion nerve cells. And each nerve cell is connected to other nerve cells, not in a one-to-one connection, but up to 10,000 individual connections between cells. Which means you have more connection in your skull than there are stars in the Universe. Information in your brain travels at about 268 miles an hour. It was discovered in Amen Clinics that the aging process with your behavior, you can accelerate or decelerate it. By the way you may be demoralized to know that aging process starts at the age of 12 and so with the brain cells. On average, you lose 85,000 brain cells a day.

The Span Of Peak Development

From the neuroscience perspective, when does the brain finish developing? We generally believe that brain develops as long as we live. When child is born, the size of the brain is comparatively bigger. But later on, other parts of the body grow extensively. If the brain also grows in proportion than it might take huge shape. But it does not. The study says that you are almost stupid at 18. Brain grows gradually stabilizes at 25 and internally it almost at the peak at 28. This is why the insurance companies believe that you have powerful decision-making abilities at this age. It is also believed that most of the important decisions are taken at third decade of our life.

Health Of The Brain

Is your brain healthy? How can you make it happier, wiser and wealthier? Is there any way you can make it creative or innovative?

There may be few reasons if your brain is not healthy.

1. External injuries

The physical damage to the brain is subjective. The intensity and place of injury makes the difference. Some people may survive with damaged part of the brain throughout the life if the injury is not at the place where vital organs are associated. Even people with brain tumour have survived for many years as the location was not affecting the vital function of the brain. However, some of the external damages may result in spot death.

2. Terrible diet

Every bite of your diet matters. Some of the food may be beneficial to your brain and some may not be. A diet high in whole grains and fruits like avocados can cut the risk of heart disease and lower bad cholesterol. This reduces your risk of plaque build-up and enhances blood flow, offering a simple, tasty way to fire up brain cells.

The food which may be responsible for BP, sugar or obesity may indirectly be damaging brain. Obesity is said to be detrimental to brain and its functions. Because the actual physical size and function of your brain goes down. That is why it is generally called fat body means smaller brain. That should scare the fat off anyone.

3. Toxic environment

People generally prefer to make their residences away from industrial areas and love greeneries around their home. Because toxic climate makes the brain sadder, sicker, poorer or dull. Gas linkages in the factories are so dangerous that subject environment is affecting health of people for years together.

4. Drugs And Alcohol

Drugs are stimulating for brain function for shorter period but consequences are ruinous. It may result in malfunctioning of brain or even end up to death. Couple of pegs of liquor may be healthy for your heart but not your brain. Only a special wine which gives benefit to your brain and no other liquor.

According to a recent study, red wine not only helps in improving heart health but also makes your brain strong. “Red Wine Study” conducted at the Georgetown University Medical Centre shows that red wine can stop the progression of Alzheimer’s. A compound called resveratrol reportedly found in the red wine is found to be beneficial for brain health. Red Wine health benefits are many; it even helps to slim down your waistline. The beverage is gaining considerable attention day by day because of its health advantages. Drinking of red wine not only keeps your brain healthy but also your heart, your heart is precious!

4. Smoking constricts blood flow to the brain.

Some of the chain smokers are craving for the nicotine and unable to resist their temptations for smoking and eating tobacco. One of such tobacco habitual person got cancer and filed a complaint in court that he was prone to cancer due to tobacco company. Unless you do not realize your responsibility, others can not alter your damages to your body or brain for filthy habits.

4. Improper sleep

Is it possible to fight against lesser sleep, anxiety or stress in life or we will become the victim of these throughout our life? The answer is “Yes”, we can definitely fight against these evils. A few good habits may help you to get away from the deadly evil. Insomnia is dangerous for brain and life as a whole. If you are sleeping properly then you can manage the stress in your life efficiently making your life happier than ever and ultimately making your brain much more healthy and powerful.

Brain Related Diseases

If you are able to keep your brain healthy you can be far away from diseases like depression, Alzheimer’s disease or even serious but not apparent disorder like Attention Deficit Syndrome. Various kinds of meditation may be highly useful to keep your brain function and systems. The benefits of mindfulness meditation are immense and increasingly popular in recent years reducing stresses, improved well-being and rewiring brain.
