Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance

“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.” — Zig Ziglar

Since it is going to be the start of the new year with a bang, we have got to be organized. You might have made a lot of progress in the past year but if you are committed to your scaling up, you have to mentally prepare yourself for change. Well, friends, I am not talking about big changes. Just baby steps.

Nothing Happens Automatically

If you do not set priorities, it is not going to happen the way you desire. For instance, you can read the newspaper every day for one hour but can you replace this time to read good books? In the evening time it may good time to watch the television but is it worth it if you can spend this time in your gym exercising? You can never know which activity in your daily routine may lead you to great success in life. Prepare things in advance so that there are no changes or regrets.

Eat The Elephant Piece By Piece

Well, you may be very much fond of pizza, right? But are you able to gulp one pizza at a time? It is not advisable to strain yourself on a whole piece of work at a time. Let the steps take a little bit more time until you become comfortable. I want to give one example. I was not able to run. I prepared myself to run for 30 seconds every day for 21 days. After 21 days I made it for sixty seconds. Another 21 days made me tear out just like a marathoner. But, to your surprise, I could run a half marathon without any problem. The next marathon will be super as I am going to run with improved timings.

Each Area Of Your Goals Is Different

Be specific to write down your goals in each area. Say, for instance, financial, physical, spiritual, and so on. Treat each area just like a separate room. You have some task in one room and if there was darkness, you switch on the light and fan and work for some time and after finishing your task, you switch everything off and go to another room. In the same fashion, you can follow your financial goals, say for instance, specifically and forget about other goals momentarily. Your activities for your financial goal should not interfere with your physical goal and vice versa. When you switch over from one activity to another, you are quite fresh. Suppose you have just finished the gym and started reading a positive mental attitude book, you are not only enjoying the reading and taking motivation but you are also physically recovering and enjoying because your dopamine secreted has taken you to next level of your happiness.

Are You Bold Enough To Share Your Goals To Others?

Why did Thomas Alva Edison use to share his invention in advance with media and reporters? He said to one of his friends humbly that there are great people around you to remind you of your goals. Last week only one of my neighbors reminded me of my six-pack-body-structure when I was trying to skip my training session due to a grand dinner. I felt guilty for my accountability and obligations although I wanted to celebrate dinner. Setbacks and failures are natural on the way to your aspired goals but some of your friends are the mastermind, they will put you back on the path.

Automation Is a Great Luxury

What an application to fix your mind for 25 minutes, five minutes rest, and again make you focus for 25 minutes. I am talking about the pomodoro technique.

If you are new to this technique let me, tell you that the ‘Pomodoro technique’ is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s. It involves using a timer for a period of hyper-focused work, followed by a short break.

It is called “Pomodoro” because that is the Italian word for tomato, and when Cirillo first developed the technique, he was using a tomato-shaped kitchen timer.

The idea behind the Pomodoro method is that when you work for several hours straight, you lose focus, drive, and mental clarity. By breaking the day into smaller chunks, with small breaks to help rejuvenate, you’re able to stay focused longer and get more done.

Review And Journalize Your Resolutions

You are the best judge for yourself. Everybody else is taken for their world. Take care of your all activities by recording minute levels of achievements and even failures. If you fail, do not bother because these are battles that may be won or lost but ultimately you will win the war. Your small resolution verification of the week or the bigger picture at the month’s end will lead you to massive change and victory. More frequent the review more chances of improvement and achievements.

Fail Fast Fall Forward

Rome was not built in a day but day by day. Failing is common in every aspect or area of your tasks. A moment of weakness may be part of the process but not a cause of the grand scheme of your success. It may happen to accomplish the task with a delayed timing. But think that you are going for a bigger jump. A bowler taking a longer run may be for a faster bowl or a wicket and unpredictable victory.

If you have done a mistake, take responsibility and never blame others for the result. Move on to the next thing immediately and focus on the next step and keep on moving. Consistency is the amazing key; you never know which part or piece may make you master or legendary in your performance and unpredictable achievement.

Summing Up

You may be having a lot of ideas in mind for the coming year like bodybuilding or taking part in the next national event of cycling. You may be thinking to be a topper in this year’s examination or revolutionize industries with your extraordinary coding. You may be planning to blast the audience with your cracking voice to energize and motivate them. You can live life to the fullest but remember the last thing,

“Along with all activities, spend regular time with your family!”
