Learn From The Mistakes

“The two worst strategic mistakes to make are acting prematurely and letting an opportunity slip; to avoid this, the warrior treats each situation as if it were unique and never resorts to formulae, recipes or other people’s opinions.”

Mistakes are a part of life; we take action and we learn from them. Mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. The success ratio depends on how you deal with your mistakes. Your attitude towards the mistake play a vital part for your achievements in life. The success ratio depends on how you deal with your mistakes. Your attitude towards the mistake play a vital part for your achievements in life. When whole factory of great scientist Thomas Alva Edison caught massive fire, everybody was disturbed and upset but when Edition showed the fire and fumes, he told to his son,

“Call your mom, she must have not seen a huge fire and fumes in her life!” Any other person would have died of heart attack due to million-dollar losses. When people came for condolence, he uttered to them, “My all mistake burned, let me start with a new one!”

Learn from every mistake

We are habitual of celebrating our success and most of the time we enjoy celebrating the success of others. You must have seen millions of people in cricket ground or the football ground to enjoy the success of sportsman. We get inspired by the action taken by the sport men and we learn from their success. It’s even more important to learn from the mistakes of others too.

A person who was eating tobacco for 20 years filed a suit against the tobacco producing company when such bad habit caused cancer. He did not accept the primary responsibility to stop the bad habit but argued in the court why such companies make tobacco. Sometimes people are not able to make change in their life and therefore suffers a lot in life. Let me crack a joke on the subject.

“A gentleman burnt his ear. His friend asked how did it happen. He told he was ironing the cloths and suddenly received a phone call. The ear burnt due to hot iron as he assumed to be a phone.”

“Next day another ear got burned. While asking for the reason, he replied that he received another call! “

I want to narrate an old story.

A hawker was tired and taking rest underneath the tree. He was selling caps. While taking rest he slept. The monkeys jumped on the ground and collected one cap each and worn just like the hawker. When he woke up he saw that all the caps were taken by monkeys. By used an idea on thinking that monkeys are good copying behavior. So, he threw his cap. The monkeys observed and threw their caps on the ground. Hawker collected caps and eloped.

We all have heard the story up in our childhood. But I have to tell you the story version 2.0 of the hawker and monkey.

After few years when same hawker passed by the same tree and again took the rest. He slept and monkeys took away the caps. When he got up, he saw that all caps vanished. With his previous experience he threw his cap and expected that all the monkeys would through the caps and he would run away again. But things happened in different way. When hawker threw his cap, one of the monkeys who did not have a cap, picked cap thrown by hawker and climbed over the tree. Monkey changed but human did not change his behavior. When you do not learn from your mistake you suffer.

Learn from the mistake of others

When you repeatedly commit mistake in different area although you learn and change yourself, a lot of time is already consumed that is never going to come back. But if you learn from every other person who commits mistake, you ae saved from committing the same mistakes again. Hence your saved time can be utilized for other important activities. A father of two young brothers had a bad habit of excess drinking of alcohol and died of the kidney failure. One of his sons also picked up the same and fell miserably sick for improper functioning of kidney but another son head very fine health. On asking the reason of his ill health when the first son was asked, he expressed that the father had chosen the way, so did I. And later on, died. But another son could save his health and therefore life by learning the lesson that if he had chosen the way that followed by his father, he would have also fallen sick and died.

Learn from the situation

A same situation for two persons may be devastating but their attitude and thinking can vary the intensity of the event. In the book “Man’s Search for Meaning”, Viktor E. Frankl’s story is inspiring. It is a remarkable blend of science and humanism and an introduction to the most significant psychological movement of all time. The psychiatrist endured years of unspeakable horror in Nazi death camps due to primary search for meaning and therefore he could survive and tell his story unlike their counterparts who could not survive the torcher and therefore their thinking process for unbearable suffering could lead to their death.
