Once, an artist sculpted a statue — a replica of himself. When his friends saw it, they were astounded; the resemblance was so perfect that they couldn’t distinguish between the statue and the man himself.
As years passed and he grew old, he was not ready to succumb to the arrival of Yamraj, the God of death. His determination to outwit fate was unwavering. He devised a clever plan. He sculpted ten identical statues, each a flawless copy of himself. Then, he practiced standing motionless among them, blending in so seamlessly that no one could tell the difference.
When the fateful day arrived, Yamraj descended to claim his soul. He looked around, searching for the artist, but all he saw were eleven identical figures. For a moment, he was puzzled. But then, a knowing smile crossed his face.
“These statues are truly remarkable!” Yamraj exclaimed. “But there is one small mistake.”
Despite the risk, the artist couldn’t resist. He stepped forward and asked, “What mistake?” His courage to seek understanding in the face of uncertainty was commendable.
