Adaptive Stress Response Of Brain

When you interrupt your regular three meals and opt for fasting, your energy metabolism shifts and you start burning fats. When fasting is observed within few hours ‘Ketone Body’ state is obtained. It is the state with three related compounds produced during the metabolism of fats, two of which are used as a source of energy instead of glucose during a period of fasting or very low carbohydrate intake, the third being acetone, which is excreted. An unique idea of 5:2 diet has also become prevalent and adopted for fasting in which twice a week individuals take reduced amount of calories like 500 calories much less than the regular calorie intake.

Number of experiments have been conducted on animals like monkeys and mice. They responded better with better memories and found more active. In human also when nerve cell circuits are more active when they are fasting. Similar results have also been found when individuals are doing exercise. During our cross country coaching camp our coach observed that we were more active during season and almost dull during off season. The formation of nerve cells and their strength were scientifically observed with greater intensity.

In earlier days when people had epileptic seizures which were believed to be the after effects of demons. The victims were locked in dark room for several hours. It was believed that the effects of demons are vanished but in fact they were deprived of food and brain cells were more active during starvation and victims felt better. Now-a-day even epilepsy is treated with fasting as ketones are believed to be good neurons. When you are exercising your muscles, just like the muscles of your body, the process exercise will increase number of mitochondria in nerve cells too. This process ultimately increases the synopses in cells and therefore learning and retention becomes better. It has also found that with increased such activities, the repairing of oxidative damages done to DNA also becomes faster.

Monetary Benefits Of Fasting

Service of less number of doctors and professionals are needed and there is overall drop of expenses incurred in pharmaceutical industries. These saved money can be utilised for better purposes when large number of people are healthy. Let us spread the information through different media so that human can have better life than ever before.
